Hohenwerfen Castle with falconry (30 km away)

A tour of the castle includes a tour of the castle chapel, the pitch kitchen, the armoury, the defensive passage, the bell tower and the adapted Prince's room. The illuminated exhibition on the construction history as well as the new weapons exhibition “To arms! Power, Honour, Submission” give visitors exciting insights into medieval life. From April to October, Hohenwerfen Castle is the scene of a variety of events such as festival weekends, fairy-tale walks, night tours, falconry demonstrations and in winter, a contemplative Advent market.

The high art of falconry
Hohenwerfen Castle was used as a hunting lodge by the Salzburg Archbishops for a long time, and falconry still reminds us of this today. In addition to the historic county falconry, the castle houses Austria's first falconry museum with a Birds of Prey trail. The daily flight demonstrations give an insight into the high art of falconry, which is still practised today in some cultures.

The Mozart City of Salzburg (70 km away)

Salzburg is ideal for a city break for the whole family. The leisurely rhythm, the short distances and the many entertainment opportunities and events for children offer great variety for visitors to Salzburg, for both young and old. The folder “City discoverers on the go in Salzburg” (available at the Neubergerhof reception) invites kids for really cool discoveries all year round and ensures that children & culture can be combined without any problems. The distances between the sights are short and easy to reach for children's legs and buggies. Numerous museums are specially designed for children, while others offer cool guided tours for children. In the large parks (Mirabell, Hellbrunn, Volksgarten) there are great children's playgrounds for that extra fun factor. The Salzburg Card is a cheap all-inclusive pass for families.
