Holidays with horses, cats, rabbits, ducks in The Neubergerhof in Filzmoos
Farm & Petting Zoo
Unforgettable holiday moments for young and old alike – on our farm with petting zoo, children and adults experience life with and around animals up close. Whether feeding, cuddling, or simply watching in wonder: every day offers new impressions. The Reiter family takes care of both guests and animals with great dedication – Martin Reiter Sr. cleans out the stables daily, Maria Reiter lovingly looks after the small animals, Geli Reiter runs the riding operation, and Martin Reiter Jr. cares for our horses.
Long in the planning and finally realized during a time of change: the new stable with exercise hall for horse and rider. Even though the old stable was spared from the fire, it was clear to the Reiter family: if everything is being renewed, then let’s do it properly. Starting in winter 2025, an adventure farm will expand the holiday experience at the Neubergerhof – a place where children take on responsibility, help out, care for animals, explore everyday farm life, and playfully learn what nature, agriculture, and animal care really mean.
The New Stable – A Place Full of Possibilities
- Exercise hall for humans and animals: Our horses get the movement they need here – and guests are welcome to join in! Whether enjoying shared riding experiences, beginner lead-rein sessions, or indoor riding on rainy days.
- Animal welfare at the highest level: The new stable sets new standards. Our horses are housed in bright, spacious indoor stalls with their own paddocks – offering plenty of room to move freely.
- Top equipment for everyday routines: A foaling box for new arrivals, a covered grooming and saddling area, an organized tack room, and even a dedicated laundry room for animal textiles – everything is designed for comfort and efficiency.
- Small animal area under development: During the winter months, we’re expanding our small animal area. By summer 2026, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, quails, and many other animals will move in – ready to be fed, cuddled, and loved.
- New four-legged residents: Starting this winter, pigs and cattle will also find a home in the new stable.
- Farming with structure: Active farming at the Neubergerhof is getting another upgrade – with a modern workshop and a garage for all our equipment, from tractors to lawnmowers. Efficient, well-organized, and future-ready.
- On-site butchery & game cooling house: For Martin Junior, it has long been a heartfelt wish that our animals not only grow up on the farm, but are also processed here with care and respect. With the new in-house butchery and game cooling facility, this dream is becoming reality. He’s supported by our son-in-law Lars, who is also our head chef. And who knows – maybe a smokehouse will join the lineup in the future.
More than just riding – truly experience horses
The focus here isn’t on traditional riding, but on guided, hands-on experiences with the horses – leading, grooming, and taking time to build connection. All under the caring guidance of Angelika Reiter, who, with warmth and experience, offers children a safe and gentle introduction to the animals. No riding lessons, no school horses – but a deliberately low-threshold approach for children who simply enjoy being around animals.
The new stable sets new standards in animal welfare. The horses are housed in bright, spacious indoor stalls with their own paddocks – complete with ample turnout space. There’s a foaling box, a covered grooming and saddling area, a well-organized tack room, and even a dedicated laundry for animal textiles.
WASTL and his fellow horses
This is WASTL, our mascot:
Hello kids, I'm WASTL!
at the playground and everywhere at Neubergerhof where there are adventures to be had.

And these are my friends!
Nelly, an old miniature pony
Heidi, the cheerfully meowing stable cat
Schnatti, the happily quacking duck
Sunny - hop, hop - always ready for a cuddle
And new to the lineup: Flora, the wise flower who can tell us so many interesting and important things about nature!
Look forward to a vacation that is not only fun but also creates many vacation memories!

The horses are far from the only attraction...
Rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, quails, black-nosed sheep — and maybe even a miniature donkey — all mingle at the adventure farm. It’s not just for show: 12 pigs and 12 cattle live in animal-friendly free-range barns. The active farming operation at Neubergerhof is getting an upgrade with a slaughter room, a wild game cooling facility, a farm workshop, and a garage for all the equipment — hygienic, efficient, and thoughtfully designed. The new small animal barn is being expanded over the winter and is scheduled for full completion by summer 2026.
Whenever possible, animals and horses stay outside at Neubergerhof — but during winter or bad weather, the new exercise hall provides space for weather-independent encounters with the horses. Experiencing animals and agriculture up close — this dream vacation is now a reality at Neubergerhof. Not a show, but a genuine part of life in the Austrian mountains. With heart for both people and animals.
Our alpacas
Manitu und Mambo
The two alpacas aren’t just super fluffy, perfect for petting, and adorable to look at — they also love going for walks with guests.
Three times a week, you and your family can enjoy a private alpaca hike.
The walk lasts about an hour, and you get to choose your own path.
But beware!
These two heart-stealers quickly win everyone over. With their fluffy ears, deep black eyes, and irresistibly sweet expressions, it’s impossible not to fall in love with them.
Our blacknose sheep
Harry & Marita
Both come from Mondsee, but they’re not siblings. Harry was born on March 24, 2024, while Marita is a bit older, having come into the world on November 13, 2023.
To celebrate Martin Reiter Jr.’s 30th birthday, the two blacknose sheep moved in at Neubergerhof. What a joy that was!
Harry was bottle-fed, which makes him especially friendly and trusting with our guests. But Marita is just as affectionate and, in our opinion, a particularly sweet sheep.
One thing’s for sure — the WASTL Kids Club will definitely be visiting these two again and again in the future!

Mucking out the stable - that's for the boss!
If you listen carefully around 16:00, you will hear soft sounds coming from the stable building! What's going on? That is Martin Reiter mucking out the stable. Every day he turns on the radio while doing his stable work. The horses and oxen like it as they are not used to anything else!
There is a lot happening in everyday farm life
Get to know the life on the farm
Everyday farm life means not only the daily stable work, but also the mucking out, feeding and haying. In summer, the tractors are in full swing when Martin Sr. and Martin Jr. bring in the hay harvest. Many dear helpers also rake in the hay under the hot summer sun.
