My favorite hike up the Rötelstein
I recommend my favorite hike to the summit of the Rötelstein with a break on the Sulzenalm. Tip: You can drive with the car to the Sulzenalm, so you save the half way with your feet.

Hiking with a dog in Filzmoos

Dogs are very welcome in Filzmoos. We kindly ask you to:

  • Make sure you take enough dog poo bags with you and throw them away in the designated rubbish bins in the hotel.
  • Walk only on paths, not in the forest. Deer, stag and other wildlife are easily scared!
  • The dog must always be on a leash.
  • When encountering cows, you must make a big detour around the herd. Never let the cows out of your sight, especially mother cows. If you encounter a dangerous situation, let your dog run away off the leash.

Safe hiking with proper handling of grazing animals

  • Avoid contact with grazing livestock, do not feed the animals and keep a safe distance!
  • Be quiet, do not scare grazing cattle!
  • Mother cows protect their calves. Avoid encounters between mother cows and dogs!
  • Always keep dogs under control and on a leash. If an attack by a grazing animal is foreseen, immediately let your dog off the leash!
  • Stay on the hiking trails on Alpine pastures!
  • If grazing cattle block the way, bypass them as widely as possible!
  • When grazing cattle approach, stay calm, do not turn your back, bypass the animals!
  • Already at the first signs of unrest of the animals, leave the pasture area quickly!
  • Fences must be observed! If there is a gate, use it, then close it again and cross the pasture quickly!
  • Treat the people who work here, the nature and the animals with respect!
