The end of September in Filzmoos is the time of the year to bring in and process the harvest. It is a time of feasting and enjoyment. You have the opportunity to get to know the traditional rural life at the harvest festival celebrations, at the Alpine cattle driving and at many other traditional events.
For the locals, the Bauernherbst is a special time. Being together, eating and drinking, laughing together and sometimes dancing and partying into the late evening hours. We celebrate the end of summer with folk music, Salzburg delicacies from handed-down recipes and pleasant company. And we are happy to invite our dear guests to be a part of the traditional Bauernherbst season in Filzmoos.
Traditional Alpine cattle driving in September
The highlight of the Bauernherbst season is definitely the Alpine cattle driving in September. The Alpine summer is over and the animals return to the valley. Festively decorated with colourful ribbons and flowers, cows, sheep, goats and horses are returned to the farms in the valley.
And that, of course, is celebrated. Almost the whole town is on its feet to pamper guests and locals alike with culinary and musical highlights. Highly recommended and well worth a visit!

Filzmoos Harvest Festival
Time together is the best time
Also in September, the harvest crown is tied with love by the Filzmoos peasants and blessed at a festive divine service. The harvest festival procession includes the traditional Filzmoos marching band, many other clubs from our mountain village and wagons full of harvest gifts, which lead through the whole town. And of course, the Filzmoos people wear their traditional Filzmoos costumes of Dirndl and Lederhosen for this special occasion.

Many other towns in SalzburgerLand also celebrate the Bauernherbst with various festivities. Tent festivals, fashion shows, early morning drinks and Alpine festivals are just a part of it. Surrounded by music, dance, culinary delights at market stalls and handicraft demonstrations, the Bauernherbst is an experience for young and old.
