Christmas winter hike
Advent season in Salzburger Land

Christmas idyll in filzmoos

The pre-Christmas time means a lot of calm and time for us and our families. Advent calendars are opened, the scent of fresh-baked cookies fills the room, and the house is cosy decorated. And of course, a visit to the advent market should not be missed. How do you feel if you think of hot mulled wine and roasted almonds? We love it!

Anyone, who has ever been in Filzmoos knows the “Almsee” at the Hofalmen. If summer or winter, this is a very special place, which should be seen.
I prefer the advent time. They put so much love and work into the decoration around the “Almsee”.

You can reach the “Hofalmen” with a beautiful hike or a comfortable drive with a taxi. We totally recommend a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride. Once, you reach the top, you will be greeted by the fairy lights. It doesn’t matter, on which alpine hut you go first – the route will lead you to the other. You trudge through the snow past the chapel, beautiful decorated giant lanterns, and different furnished cribs.

If you have enough time, you must visit the small cabin on the way. There is a man, who reads advent stories. A little surprise awaits you at the lake – do you know the “Perchten”?
You can also enjoy a hot mulled wine or some tasty punch – the profit goes to the filzmooser mountain rescuer, which are very important for us. But unfortunately, in this year it is cancelled due to covid.

We are very thankful for everyone, who is involved in the organization of the Christmas idyll. Even in times like covid, they enable us an unforgettable Christmastime. We are very happy, to visit the Christmas idyll as a walk.

We hope that we will be able to visit the idyll normally again next year – to enjoy one or two glasses of mulled wine with our beloved ones.

We wish you all the best and good health, see you soon in Filzmoos!
